Experience the Sensual Shapes of Nature

through Aspenalo

Meandering through this cyber world of ours and visiting web pages of various companies, I always find myself attracted to the aspect describing the people behind the project. Are they real, three-dimensional and traceable, or are they enigmatic and illusive, augmented and hidden behind impenetrable structures of this virtual reality?

At Aspenalo Design we have three Principal Owners; Eva, Voytek and Louise.

Eva and Voytek

Eva and Voytek landed on the shores of this glorious continent some twenty five years ago. Educated in the old country… they brought with them raw energy, passion and aspirations.

Voytek, an engineer, was able to apply some of his skills in construction, running his own business for the last twenty years. At Aspenalo he is trusted with the structural integrity of our designs, as well as innovative approach in the execution of our signature series -massive dinning room tables and complimentary benches.

He is The Make It Happen Guy.

Eva, with a background in business and administration, as well as applied arts and architectural rendering acts as a Challenger and a Visionary . She inspires the incredible free flowing designs Aspenalo is distinguished for; hand cut mirrors, interlocking slabs, intricately balancing shape and texture with functionality.

Louise with new foal

Louise, grew up with old world values and the new world's desire for exploration and adventure. She is The Free Spirit, in constant pursuit of excellence and self-discovery. She devoted herself to helping others by becoming a manager and instructor with Search and Rescue, participating in numerous actions.

Louise excels in every endeavor she undertakes; from academics to leadership, she is also a horse lover /more so a horse whisperer/, an avid reader, and artist. Canvas, wood and metal are just a few of her mediums. Her love for nature takes her to remote places, from where she frequently brings some rare elements later incorporated in our furniture.

Louise is in charge of every aspect of the business, focusing on personal contact with the customers and participation in Fairs and Conferences.

We now live on the Rocking Horse Ranch in the South Cariboo part of British Columbia , Canada . An older log ranch house in the valley, surrounded by aspen groves and pine became a home to us some five years ago. Horses at the RanchAfter being completely remodeled and redesigned, it became our pride as well as a testing ground of our endeavor. Today, it houses a collection of our original projects as well as being a show home we love and treasure.

The picture would not be complete without understanding the role of Succulents and Photography in our lives.

The passion for Cacti and Succulents; cactus and other spiny plants that live in the desert, took us to distant lands. Learning about them and exploring their habitats in order to study their survival adaptations in the most inhospitable of environments – the desert, became a driving force of the last twenty years.

Their fascinating flowers, sensual shapes and textures became an inspiration in the creation of our furniture and are reflected in our designs. However, the foremost importance drawn from intimate knowledge of these intricate desert dwellers is the vital energy locked in their bodies and their power of survival. So it is in our furniture, we hope.

We specialize in custom, nature inspired log furniture, where huge slabs are playfully arranged to compose into tables, kitchen countertops, benches and other pieces.

Special find; sensually curved roots are complimented by hand cut, free run mirrors that interlock and parallel curves drawn by slate tile to appoint the bathroom wall.

Photography, another strong passion of ours taught us to understand and use the elements of composition and balance. Understanding light, so critical in expressing mood in nature photography helps us to bring and accentuate texture, grain and complement shapes in our interior design.

We strive to create totally unique pieces of furniture, integrated with the style, purpose and function of the surroundings, in total harmony and synergy with the new environment.

Succulent inspired sensual creations.
